Title printed in red and black; finely-engraved allegorical frontispiece; pp. viii, 126; engraved title to the plates’ section; 180 superbly engraved plates, with the additional plate numbered (XXV), many of which double page and some folding; including 22 superbly-engraved plates of Scottish coins; without the engraved title to the first section (supplied as a loose photocopy); plate 34 with the armorial crest at base cut-out and supplied in a separate photo-copy of the whole page, and loosely inserted. Neatly bound in 19th century speckled calf, re-backed, raised bands, back gilt; the title page age-discolored, but the contents generally particularly fresh and clean. The plates of the coins in particularly fresh condition. From the library of Harry Manville- inscribed by him on earlier engraved book plate of the previous owner, a close friend of Harry's who gifted the volume to HEM. Originally acquired by Douglas Saville when purchasing the large Harry Manville library in 2014. |
