Originally purchased from Spinks in 1935 (for £2.10.6) with their label on endpaper, and initialled in pencil by G. C. B(rooke).
Henry Walters Morrieson (18571933) was a major influential figure in British numismatics during the first half of the 20th century. Lieutenant-Colonel, Royal Artillery FSA. FRSA. NSL/RNS 1879, resigned 1891, re-elected 1896, Council 191213, 191517, Secretary 191720, Council 192022, Secretary 192223, Council 192327, Secretary 192730, Vice-President 193033. BNS original member, 1903, Council 1905, Librarian 190614, President 191519, 192832, Vice-President 192027, 1933, Sanford Saltus Medallist 1920. His important collection of English, Scottish, Irish, Anglo-Hanoverian, Ancient and Foreign coins, and numismatic books was sold in 1,195 lots at Sothebys, 2024 November 1933.
