Folio, pp. 56; woodcut headings; 17 engraved plates; with an additional leaf bound in at end containing 8 accomplished drawings, 6 in pen and ink, one obverse and revers in pencil; Neatly bound in polished crushed half morocco, back gilt; contemporary marbled boards, minimal wear. Minor and sporadic age-browning and spotting, but a nice example of one of Thomas Snelling’s key works, and the first to indicate the beginning of a more “scientific” approach to the subject. Thomas Snelling was the leading London coin dealer of the middle years of the 18th century, and through his publications, aimed at encouraging collectors. He supplied coins to the leading colllectors of the period..
