A Numismatic History of the Reign of Henry I (1100-1135). (Comprising The “Numismatic Chronicle” Fourth series, Volume I) London, 1901.
Description
Octavo, pp. 516; 8 fine autotype plates. Contemporary brown half calf, raised bands, back gilt; marbled page edges; some minor wear. The catalyst that was to lead to the formation of the British Numismatic Society some three years later; the editors of the Chronicle having given over the whole of one volume to a paper on English numismatics, to the total chagrin of those (significantly more numerous) members more interested in ancients. From the library of B H I H Stewart [=Ian Stewart. The Lord Stewartby] with his impressive ex libris on endpaper.
