Contemporary green cloth, red calf labels, gilt; the final part I of the third volume in the original wrappers, worn; contents clean throughout. Unidentified ownership inscription dated 16 July, 1840 on endpaper of Volume I. Volume 2 (2) has the neat engraved book label, with armorial crest of Baron Ferdinand de Turckheim on endpaper. The record of a truly remarkable collection of talers formed when it was possible to do so, and with the advantage of almost unlimited funds. The collection was sold by the Erbstein brothers in huge series of sales in 1868-1869. |
