Quarto, engraved portrait of the author; folding map of France by Kitchin, 15 finely-engraved plates of coins, by Francis Perry, superbly engraved plate of Mr Brander’s Medal, also by Perry; pp. (ii), xi, (i); 104; 39, (1). Some browning, but rather less extensive than usual, and a very good copy of this very scarce work, contemporary boards, neatly re-backed in polished calf, raised bands, red morocco title label, back gilt. Six line contemporary manuscript note in ink on final blank, describing Sir Charles Frederick’s Collection of Aquitaine coins. (See: Manville Biographical Dictionary for details of Frederick and his collections. His coins were sold by John Gerard 17-20 May, 1786). |
