Quarto, pp. wonderful autotype plate of facing head coins as frontispiece, title printed in red and black, xx, 126; 26 fine plates. Original printed card wrappers, worn. Minor discoloration, endpapers a little browned. Ex library with three labels on endpaper only- no stamps in the text or on the plates.. Contents exceptionally fresh and bright. A beautifully produced work, illustrating many superb coins. Very scarce.
Clain-Stefanelli 1929*; Daehn 2095, 'Begins with an inspiring foreword by Lampson describing the beauty of Greek coins. Many of his coins were formerly in the collection of Sir Hermann Weber. The catalogue presents 350 coins from throughout the Greek world, of uniformly superb condition and artistic merit. Most are illustrated. Pedigrees are given for the coins when significant.' Kroh 12, 'Very well written and fun to read, it is a pity that it is so rare.' |
